What a beautiful sight!

Last night was a great win for the Rangers!  I could have done without the 5-run 9th inning, though!

Here are my thoughts on last night’s game:

  • Another strong performance by Kevin Millwood.  Even though he didn’t have his best stuff, he was able to keep the Angels in check for 6 innings.
  • If I were a pitcher facing Ian Kinsler, there is no way I would throw him anything near  the inside 2/3 of the plate.
  • Welcome back Mr. Hamilton!  Looks like the ribs are feeling okay! Heads-up All-You-Can-Eat Porch!
  • Derek Holland pitched very well for 2.2 innings. He’ll learn to reach down and get that final out.
  • If you happened to miss the incredible 4-6-3 double play in which the ball touched two gloves and one bare hand, click here.
  • I still can’t figure out why Ron Washington brought in Darren O’Day to face a lefty and C.J. Wilson to face a righty. Makes no sense to me…
  • This was the largest crowd I have seen at the Ballpark since Opening Day. Let’s keep supporting our Rangers!

Soapbox Speech – Get to the game on time! It’s not that hard, especially for a 7:05 start.  I realize that DFW fans are notorious for arriving late to game, but it is ridiculous to me! Nothing frustrates me more than people showing up in the 4th inning of a baseball game. The people in the seats next to us last night showed up in the 4th and proceeded to have a picnic in their seats. They pulled out of loaf of bread, a container of tuna salad -yes, I said TUNA SALAD, chips, and they began making sandwiches.  I have no problem, with fans bringing a cooler with snacks and drinks to a game – my wife and I do it every game! But when you plan to show up at 8:15 for a 7:05 game, you should eat at home! Or you should buy a hot dog at the game. And they weren’t even the worst…a group of four women (in their late 50s/early 60s) showed up in the 7th inning.  I guess they came for the fireworks…

Off the soapbox now…

The Rangers and Vicente Padilla get ready to face John Lackey, returning from the DL for his first start of the season. If the rain holds off, I look forward to seeing the Rangers welcome him to the 2009 season with their traditional Texas hospitality – lots of fireworks!

Get ready for a good one!

Go Rangers!
