Let’s Get the Heck Out of Detroit!

Thank goodness that series is over!
The Rangers return home today after three poor efforts in Detroit. The first two games, the Rangers forgot how to hit. Yesterday’s game was enough to make your stomach turn! Let’s hope the Rangers got all of that terrible play out of their systems!
Here are my thoughts on the Detroit series:
- Kevin Millwood is a winner. A lot of the local media wrote him off after last year. I commend him for his hard work in the off-season and spring training. He has done everything the Rangers asked of him. He should be 2-0.
- The Rangers have got to do something about the bullpen. There is no reason a starter should come out of a game after 7 scoreless innings and worry about losing a 4-run lead. C.J. “Cardiac” Wilson needs to get his head on straight. Madrigal, while his haircut was an improvement, has not shown me much this year. You have to be able to throw strikes consistently in this league.
- I’m starting to get a little worried about Chris Davis and David Murphy at the plate. They are .045 and .000, respectively. According to T.R. Sullivan’s article, Davis is more comfortable hitting at night. I guess we’ll find out tonight.
- Ian Kinsler is off to a hot start! He leads the Rangers in hits and RBI. I hope he keeps it up! The bullpen needs it!
- I have been impressed with Elvis Andrus thus far. He has been solid in the field, and he isn’t intimidated at the plate.
- Michael Young is the same ol’ Michael Young, which is excellent for the Rangers.
- Nellie Cruz is a monster. It’s nice to see him finally break through after the Rangers were so patient with him.
- We’re 3-3…back to square one. At least it is better than 0-6!
Vicente Padilla is set to take on the 4-2 Orioles tonight. I would love to see him go 7 or 8 innings tonight. However, that could lead to 4 1/2 hour game.
