When the game is on the line, there is no one in this league I would rather at the plate than Michael Young.
What a game!
Have you ever seen anyone this clutch? Maybe Michael Jordan taking the last second shot. Or Peyton Manning driving the offense down the field in the final two minutes.
I’m starting to think teams might intentionally walk Michael late in games just to avoid the heart-breaking clutchness (I think I just created a new word). He is 7 for 11 in the 8th and 9th innings this year, with a double and three home runs. Clutch.
I seriously hope All-Star voters are paying attention. After all, he has already displayed his clutchness in an All-Star Game. Remember that triple?
I couldn’t be happier for the guy. I knew he would eventually settle in at third, but I was worried it might take a while. He is getting better defensively with every game, and you can’t ask for much more from him at the plate. I’m glad to see him hitting with a little more power this year
. His home run numbers had started tailing off the last couple years, but he seems to have regained his pop. He could potentially hit 18-20 homers this year!
And how about that Marlon Byrd catch in the 9th? WOW! The guy is all hustle! He is certainly taking full advantage of David Murphy’s 0 for 2009 campaign.
If nothing else, this Rangers team is exciting!
This will be my last post for a couple days. I am heading up to Oklahoma City to take part in a four-person marathon relay with my wife and two brothers-in-law. I am running a 12K. Wish me luck!
Go Rangers!
